June was an active month for Glass-Link, packed with amazing events. From all that we attended, two initiatives especially stood out and have had a lasting impact on us! Let's dive into the interconnected world of maritime life and the actions we can take to protect it, locally and globally.

𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗰: 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗮

Race For The Baltic is an independent non-profit organization founded by Zennstrom Philanthropies Limited. Their mission? To improve the health of the Baltic Sea. 🌊During Kongres Polskie Porty 2030, Kamil Jagodziński actively participated in the discussion panel on “Environmental, Social, Governance in ports, terminals, and shipping.” Their focus? Cost-effective solutions that protect natural landscapes and biodiversity. Notably, they’re tackling the critical issue of nutrient leakages in ports, which pose a significant threat to marine environments. Congrats for making an impact! 🙌

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗽 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸: 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆

🔹 Michael Fishbach’s presentation at Antwerp Maritime Week was exceptional. As co-founder of Whale Guardians™, he began by praising the maritime industry, highlighting its vital role in our progress and growth as societies and safe economies. He stressed the importance of taking wise actions to protect oceans and marine life, creating an environment where both can thrive harmoniously, without detriment to either. 🌊

🔹 Whale Guardians™, an initiative by the Great Whale Conservancy, focuses on preventing unintentional whale ship strikes, which are the leading cause of whale mortality worldwide. Their goal is to help these majestic creatures recover to pre-whaling populations. 🐋 They focus on combating unintentional ship strikes through research, data collection, and action, further collaborating with maritime industries to navigate vessels wisely.

🔹 And who could miss the majestic blue whale sculpture at Antwerp Central train station?

🐋 For us, it beautifully symbolizes these creatures' strength and fragility at the same time. Congrats to the Royal Belgian Shipowners' Association (KBRV) for this impactful #MakeWayForWhales initiative! 🌊
